Heron Island  Whale Watching Heron Island is in the Great Barrier Reef marine park and migrating whales are often seen here during the winter months when they come to this region to give birth, mate again, and raise their newborn calves. Humpback whales are often seen in the waters around Heron Island in the months from July to November.
